International Diving Institute has become the United States top training facility for commercial divers.  Some schools boast meal plans and dormitories which realistically has no bearing on your commercial diving training.  Our administrative staff is happy to assist you with much more comfortable accommodations for less. International Diving Institute  has built a track record for producing the best trained, entry level divers period.  That's why many commercial dive companies CEO'S have chosen International Diving Institute to trained their own sons for entry into commercial diving.  Our graduates are recruited by the top diving companies for both inland and offshore positions.   International Diving Institute instructors offer a lifetime of diving experiences to enhance the educational environment at International International Diving Institute.

International Diving Institute trains in real-world environments.  IDI is located on the Old Navy Base, adjacent to Pier Juliet along the Cooper River.  This location is home to IDI waterfront training areas as well as Deytons Shipyards, cranes, barges, dredging operations, and waterfront ship loading operations.  Exactly the same environment that commercial divers work in everyday.  As a matter of fact the Old Charleston Navy Base is rich in diving history.  Divers have worked in the waters you'll be training in for over 100 years.

International Diving Institute has the largest network of freshwater training tanks of any school.  The Wet Tank training facility is comprised of a 48000 gallon main tank, as well as a 30' confined space tank and a dedicated 20 deep wet welding facility.  International Diving Institute is proud of the fact that  several leading dive companies routinely use our wet welding facility for training and research and development.  The Wet tank facility has several fixed dive and mobile dive station set-ups.  Our Wet tank facility has been used by many industries for testing prototype underwater equipment.

International Diving institute's enhanced "Real World" learning environment and IDI's experienced faculty make your training a memorable experience.  During your 16 week training at International Diving Institute you will experience an average of 50 - 60 hours of dive time performing underwater task and completing a variety of underwater projects using various tools and equipment.  Your safety at International Diving Institute is always of the up most importance.  Compare us to the other schools and you will realize that smaller classes with a maximum of 10 students equals more personal attention, better one-on-one training, and enhanced safety.  All of these factors combine to make your
training a success and to assist in your career path in commercial diving.
