Open Water Certification SCUBA Course - FAQ
1. How much does it cost? Open Water Courses are typically $275. For a group of 6 or more students a discount rate is available. Weekend Classes and private lessons are also available for an additional fee.
2. What instructional materials are required? SDI - Deluxe OW Kit which includes instructional book, dive log book, dive tables, instructional DVD, and a student folder - $75 a professional level OW Kit with advanced materials is available for $99

3. What does the class include? 4 hrs of classroom or online sessions, 4 hours of pool sessions, SDI certification fees, rental diving gear for pool sessions and training dives, including BCD, tank, weight belt, regulator, and all air fills for pool sessions.
4. What is not provided? Personal dive gear such as mask, fins, snorkel, booties and wetsuit.
5. What about certification dives? 4 - Open Water certification dives are required for SDI Open Water Certification. There are several options open to our students for certification including trips to the Springs in Florida and Local Offshore Dives from Murrells Inlet. The student is responsible for cost associated with these dives.

Local Offshore Checkout dives (from Murrells Inlet) - $275 for Saturday and Sunday includes 2 dives each day (4 dives total). Hotel/motel accomodations are available upon request at extra charge. See Offshore Carolinas Dive Sites for more information.
Florida Springs Checkout Dives - Typically $375 Devil's Den - Includes a weekend utilizing the cabins for accommodations. RV sites and hotel
accommodations are also available. Based on SDI standards, 4 open water training dives are required as a minimum, with a maximum of 2 dives per day. Typical travel includes leaving Charleston on Friday afternoon, diving on Saturday and Sunday, then returning to Charleston on Sunday evening. these prices typically include spring entry fees, overnight accommodations, Instructor fees, and air fills for 4 certification dives. Transportation to and from the dive site, food, and personal expenses are not included.
