Advanced Classes for both Scuba and Air/Mixed Gas Surface Supplied Diving.

Each IDI elective course (advanced class) that a diver takes increases the diver's overall effectiveness and thus his worth to his employer. Each elective should be thought of as an investment in a diver's future. Whether you dive in the deep sea or in hazardous waste, the respect you get is real.

Names & Descriptions

   

Haz-Mat Diver
HAZ – WOPER: Hazardous Materials Handling and Response Diver

This course that meets all OSHA Requirements for Diving in a Hazardous Material Environment. It involves all aspects of handling, containment, and disposal of said material. This is an exciting course ranging from diving in nuclear reactors, handling emergency spills and environmental disasters in today’s oceans, rivers and lakes.

   
     

Underwater Wet Welding
UNDERWATER WET WELDING (Advanced U/W Welding Program)

Advanced U/W Program course will go into any in depth study of the following: Equipment identification/application; formula and equation for electrical current versus depth; and practical application of line, vertical, horizontal, lap joint, t-joint and overhead welding techniques. This program should be on every diver's resume.

   
     

Underwater Burning
UNDERWATER BURNING (Advanced U/W Burning Program)

Advanced U/W Burning Program course of study follows: Equipment identification, application; theory and safety in U/W burning; setting up; monitoring; and managing the burning station. This program will not only provide the student with the ability to make precision cuts, it will also provide them with the knowledge to do the job safely. This program goes hand-in-hand with U/W Welding. The saying in the dive business is "Some days you install the hardware, some days you cut it out."

   
     
Hyperbaric Chamber Technician
Hyperbaric Chamber Operations

The Advanced Chamber Operations course will go into an in depth study and practical application of Identification of: Fittings, Plumbing, Maintenance, Cleaning, Remote Set-up, Calibration and Trouble-shooting. This course is highly recommended for those in search of an offshore career.
   
     
NASE Sport Diving Instructor
NASE SPORT DIVER INSTRUCTOR COURSE

Attendance to Instructor Course after completion of 120 hours of training, already have an Open Water Certification from a recognized agency. Training coincides with the core program, and students enrolling in this program will also participate in classroom, pool work, and evaluation of the IDI Scuba program offered to the local community. This program will not only give you the skills of a highly trained Scuba instructor, but also the knowledge to run a full service dive shop.
   
     
Rigging - Basic
RIGGING - BASIC

A specialty (or advanced) class, IDI's "Rigging - Basic" course offers the following: In-depth study of rigging theory and safety; practical application of knot tying and use; load calculation/moving; use of heavy equipment (cranes); and safe communication with top-side. Rigging is an every day part of commercial dive operations. This program will give you the advanced skills that are required to succeed in the diving industry today.

Each IDI elective (or advanced class) that a diver takes increases his/her overall effectiveness as a commercial diver and thus his/her worth to his employer. Each elective should be thought of as an investment in the diver's financial future. Students receive separate certificates for electives. IDI is a member of Association of Diving Contractors International (ADC) and trains to the Standards published by the Association of Commercial Diving Educators (ACDE), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the National Association of SCUBA Educators (NASE), and the Sea Research Society (SRS).
